Through APP (Applied Professional Persistence). Tim earned his spot in
the Nashville music scene the old-fashioned way: believing in himself
and pounding the pavement to build relationships. He made frequent trips
to Nashville from Texas while working as an accounting professor to
break into songwriting. It eventually happened…and in a big way. Tim’s
biggest hit was “Love In The First Degree” (Alabama), but he also
wrote No. 1 singles “When I Call Your Name” (Vince Gill), “The Bluest
Eyes In Texas” (Restless Heart), and “She Got the Gold Mine, I Got The
Shaft” (Jerry Reed), and has 24 Top 10 singles. Under Tim’s leadership,
Arista discovered and launched the careers of country music mainstays
Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Pam Tillis and Brad Paisley.“I describe
myself as a lover of, and an advocate for, songs and songwriters.
That’s my positioning statement in life.”
