COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas — Two women were killed Tuesday after being thrown from a tri-wheel motorcycle.

A Texas Department of Public Safety crash report says Leslie Renae Mitchell, 54, of De Leon, was driving a Can-Am Spyder F3 south of FM 1496 when she drove across the oncoming northbound lane and into the shoulder, crossing a private driveway.

The report says Mitchell lost control of the motorcycle, went into a side skid, hit a mailbox, then rolled. Mitchell and her passenger, Nancy Menzdorf Chapman, 68, of Stephenville, were both thrown from the motorcycle. Neither were wearing a helmet, the report said. They were both pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Johnny Connie.

DPS says investigators believe Mitchell experienced a medical issue that caused the crash.
