UPDATE: Tuesday death in north San Angelo now being investigated as homicide

The San Angelo Police Department is investigating the death of a 26-year-old San Angelo man. The department said the death has been ruled a homicide.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE: (5:30 p.m. April 4): The San Angelo Police Department issued a brief statement Thursday afternoon regarding the death of 26-year-old Kristian Rose. 

According to the statement, Rose's death has been ruled a homicide.

ORIGINAL: The San Angelo Police Department is investigating the death of a 26-year-old San Angelo man, found injured in the 600 block of East 39th Street Tuesday morning.

Investigators with the department’s Criminal Investigations Division are conducting an investigation into the death of Kristian Rose, 26.

Police located Rose just after 3:40 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 600 block of East 39th Street suffering from undetermined injury. Rose was conscious, but not responsive, according to a release from the SAPD. 

Officers initiated life-saving techniques until San Angelo Fire Department medics arrived, but despite their efforts, Rose died at the scene. Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard responded to formally pronounced Rose dead and requested that Rose be sent to the South Plains Forensic Pathology Center in Lubbock for autopsy.

The SAPD said this is an active investigation and no other information is available for release at this time.
