Summer Meal Program provides free meals for San Angelo area children

Free meals will be available from June 2 through July 2 at participating San Angelo Independent School District campuses and Boys and Girls Clubs.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Summer Food Service Program will provide free healthy meals throughout the summer, including breakfast, lunch and a snack for children and teenagers in the San Angelo area.

According to a San Angelo Independent School District release, the free meals will be available starting Wednesday, June 2 through Friday, July 2 at participating district campuses and the Boys and Girls Clubs.

The free summer meals program is open to anyone 18 or younger. 

The program does not require children to be classified as economically disadvantaged to participate and no paperwork needs to be completed.

To receive the meal, people should arrive during the scheduled times at any participating program site. The meals will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Participating sites for the program are as follows:

Breakfast:

7:45 a.m to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday 

  • Austin Elementary, 700 N. Van Buren St.
  • Bradford Elementary, 2302 Bradford St
  • Crockett Elementary, 2104 Johnson St.
  • San Jacinto Elementary, 800 Spaulding St.

8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday

  • Northside Boys & Girls Club, 1802 N. Lillie St.
  • Southside Boys & Grils Club, 2762 Ben Ficklin Road

Lunch

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

  • Austin Elementary, 700 N. Van Buren St.
  • Bradford Elementary, 2302 Bradford St
  • Crockett Elementary, 2104 Johnson St.
  • San Jacinto Elementary, 800 Spaulding St.

1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday

Snack

10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 7 through Thursday, July 1

  • Glenn Middle School, 2210 University Ave.
  • Lone Star Middle School, 2500 Sherwood Way
  • Lincoln Middle School, 255 Lake View Heroes Drive 

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Texas Department of Agriculture provide the funding for the summer meals program. 

SAISD has participated in offering summer meals for 28 years.
