ABILENE, Texas — If you have a valid library card from the Abilene Public Library, you can now have access to its newest digital offering: Kanopy.
The streaming platform gives cardholders free access to a selection of films, television shows, documentaries and educational content.
Registration is free with a valid library card and open for adults ages 18 and older.
Highlights include:
- Popular movies
- Classic cinema
- Indie favorites
- Educational content
- Kanopy Kids
With your Abilene Public Library card, accessing Kanopy is simple:
- For general users: Receive 15 tickets each month to borrow content. Most movies will utilize two tickets, TV show seasons may require up to five tickets. You’ll see how many tickets will be used up before borrowing any title. Tickets refresh at the beginning of each month, but unused tickets do not roll over.
- For children: The Kanopy Kids section provides unlimited streaming of educational and entertaining content for younger viewers. Parents may access this feature by logging in, accessing “Kanopy Kids,” and entering a PIN when prompted. Upon doing so, your child will only see kid-friendly content without the option of exiting the kids’ section without the PIN.
To start watching, visit abilenetx.kanopy.com or download the Kanopy app from your device’s app store. You’ll need your 13-digit library card number, then create an account by entering your name, email address and creating a password. Once completed, you may be prompted to verify your email address registered and then get started browsing the collection to look for titles to borrow and watch. Movie titles checkout for 72 hours and TV seasons for 5-days.
