ABILENE, Texas —

Abilene Public Library's main branch, 202 Cedar St., is the spot to be for children in the community to see this summer’s Young Audiences performances.

Three free live performances are lined up with two sessions hosted each program date at 10:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. This series is meant to connect children with interactive productions centered on the arts and designed to educate audiences while having fun.

On Tuesday, June 25, the first featured performers are the McMurry Theatre group with “The Just So Stories,” a play featuring stage adaptations of stories compiled from the works of Rudyard Kipling, directed by Neena McLain.

On Tuesday, July 9, master storyteller Margaret Clauder will have a performance centered on animal adventures using puppets, songs, humor and magic to educate the audience.

Finally on Tuesday, July 16, the series concludes with Elizabeth Kahura, a storyteller, educator, performer and singer, born in Kenya. She will take children through an African safari and share the importance of cultural values and how they influence identities, as well as the interdependence of people in a community.
