ABILENE, Texas — A garage behind a vacant home was a total loss, the Abilene Fire Department says.
At around 5:24 p.m. Sunday, AFD crews responded to a structure fire in 2800 block of Russell Avenue. They arrived to find a fully-involved, two-car garage behind a vacant house.
The fire had extended to the outside of an occupied home next door, but was quickly brought under control.
The garage building collapsed during firefighting efforts and was a total loss, the AFD says.
The occupied exposure home next door sustained exterior fire damage to the siding and windows.
No injuries were reported and the AFD says the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damages.
