SAN ANTONIO — Michael Green was missing something prior to his warrior graduation in May last year.
“So there is a phrase that they use here at K9s For Warriors, and it’s trust the process,” Green said.
For Green, that missing piece was 3-year-old black Labrador ‘Worth’.
“It was just like a puzzle piece was just fitting perfectly together,” he said.
Spending six years in the army as a military police officer, Green only wishes he joined the program sooner. In everyday situations, Worth can help as a second pair of eyes.
“I can do my shopping,” Green said. “I can pull stuff off of the rack. I can check this out. He has now got my six, and I’m not paranoid, hyper-vigilant that I have someone who will endanger me, so to speak.”
Green says in order for you to receive help, you have to be honest with yourself.
“I’ve told this to my friends before, this is something I probably should’ve done 15 years ago. And I didn’t.”
