BROWN COUNTY, Texas — A May man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday night on US Hwy 183, 3.3 miles south of May in Brown County.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jerry F. Burnett, 78, of May, was driving a car traveling south on US 183, when he stopped on the shoulder of the southbound lane to make a U-turn.

A pickup truck, driven by Carl N. Alden, 78, of May, was also traveling south when it struck Burnett's car on the driver's side as Burnett tried to make the U-turn.

Burnett's car spun around, the report said, and he was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat belt. Burnett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alden was "treated and released", according to the DPS report.
