TCSO identifies man killed by train between Merkel and Trent

The victim has been identified as Dr. Cy Daneshfar of Lubbock. This was the second fatality involving a pedestrian and train in a week in Taylor County.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas — UPDATE (Oct. 21): The pedestrian killed in a train incident Wednesday has been identified by the Taylor County Sheriff's Office as Dr. Cy Daneshfar of Lubbock.

The TCSO said it is believed to be an accidental death. Daneshfar's vehicle broke down at the location, however, it is not known why he had walked up to the train tracks.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Taylor County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a pedestrian that was fatally injured Wednesday.

A release from the TCSO said deputies responded to a call about a train accident involving a pedestrian between Merkel and Trent off I-20.

A man was fatally injured at the scene, the release said. His next of kin has been notified, but the TCSO did not give his identity at the time of the release.

The incident is under investigation, and the man's body has been sent for autopsy; however, no foul play is suspected, the release said.

A 44-year-old man was killed Oct. 14 after being hit by a train near the 3100 block of North 1st Street in Abilene.
