TEXAS, USA — Early voting in West Texas for the May 2021 election will be from Monday, April 19 to Tuesday, April 27. Election Day is Saturday, May 1.
West Texas residents will vote for local races such as mayor, city council members and school board positions.
Early voting schedules
Tom Green County
Voters can vote at the Edd B. and Frances Frink Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave. 1st floor.
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23,
- 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 24
- 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 25
- 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 26 to Tuesday, April 27.
Taylor County
Voters can vote at the Taylor County Plaza, 400 Oak St.
- 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 19 to Friday, April 23
- 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, April 26 and Tuesday, April 27
Election Day
Voting polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 1.

Are you registered to vote?
To vote in Texas an individual must be registered. Individuals can check if they are registered or if they need to update their registration on the Texas Secretary of State website.
Although the registration deadline has passed, citizens should still register to vote in future elections.
To register to vote in Texas an individual will need to fill out a voter registration application and return it to their county election office.
To register, individuals should:
- Fill out the Texas Secretary of State’s online voter registration application.
- Request a printed application.
- Visit the local voter registrar and complete the process.
Acceptable documents to bring to Texas polling sites
A valid form of identification is required before a person can vote at a polling site. These are the seven acceptable forms of photo identification:
- Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
- Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
- Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
- Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
- U.S. Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
- U.S. Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
- U.S. Passport passport or card.
Individuals who do not have an acceptable form of photo ID can execute a “Reasonable Impediment Declaration” and will need to provide a copy or the original of one of the following documents:
- A government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate
- Current utility bill
- Bank statement
- Government check
- Paycheck
- A certified domestic birth certificate, from a U.S. state or territory
- A document confirming birth admissible in a court of law establishing the voter’s identity. It may include a foreign birth document.
Who can vote by mail and how to request a mail-in ballot?
A registered voter can vote early by mail if they meet the following requirements:
- 65 or older
- Disabled
- Will be out of the county during early voting and on Election Day
- Are in jail, but not finally convicted of a felony.
An application for a ballot by mail must be received by the individual’s county election office by the deadline.
The deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot is Monday, April 19 in Tom Green County and Tuesday, April 20 in Taylor County.
The applications can be dropped off in person, mailed, faxed or emailed. If the application is faxed or emailed, a hard copy must be received within four days.
