TEXAS, USA — There is a tornado watch in effect for portions of the Big Country until 3 a.m.  There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the Concho Valley until 5 a.m.

Saturday will be our next chance for strong to severe thunderstorms. There is an enhanced (3/5) risk for areas north and east of Abilene, and a slight (2/5) risk for both San Angelo and Abilene. It looks like the main threat will be overnight Saturday into early Sunday, so be sure to stay weather aware.

Waking up Saturday, there may be some scattered storms - especially in the Big Country. Some of those thunderstorms could produce quarter sized hail and damaging wind gusts. After those storms dissipate there will be a lull in activity until early evening.

Around 5-7 p.m. Saturday, we will likely see some thunderstorms develop. These late evening thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, damaging wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes. The evening thunderstorms will form a line into the overnight hours, so be sure to have a way to receive watches and warnings as you go to bed Saturday.

After the storms move through Sunday will be a pleasant day, and the month of April looks to end on a calm note weather-wise.
