SAN ANGELO, Texas — University Theatre at Angelo State University will present William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" for the first public production of the fall season, starting Thursday, Oct. 14, in the ASU Modular Theatre.
Performances will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 14-16, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17. The Modular Theatre is inside the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for non-ASU students, and free for ASU students, Arts at ASU subscribers and ASU activity card holders. Tickets can be purchased online at angelostatetickets.com or through the ASU box office in the Carr EFA Building.
Everyone attending the play will need to complete ASU's visitor wellness screening (angelo.edu/wellness-screening-visitor) and be prepared to show their wellness screening badge, as well as have their temperature checked, before entering the EFA Building. Masks/face coverings are strongly encouraged, but are not mandatory.
The story of "Macbeth" features three witches telling the Scottish General Macbeth that he will one day be king of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth kills the previous king and takes the crown. What follows is how the Scottish people decide to deal with Macbeth's ambition.
Under the direction of Daniel Anderson, assistant professor and director of University Theatre, the student cast includes Angie Calfa, Scott Cantrell, Katie Coldiron, Trinity Cooper, Emma Cullen, Shannon Dennis, Hayden Duckworth, Kat Fields, Kadyen Kevil, Bryer Lindsey, Mitchell Martinez, EJ Mendoza, Dijon Milaness, Matthew Montag, Jordan Parks, Gabrielle Turner and Vero Villalobos.
The student production crew includes Chase Phelps, associate production manager; Alondra Castro, assistant scenic and lighting designer, charge painter; EJ Mendoza, assistant sound designer/sound operator; Stormi Cobb, Kailey Gembler, Rachel Hill and Alexis Washington, props designers; Sam Foster, stage manager; Charlotte Brown and Alexis Crawford, assistant stage managers; Gabriel Martin, deck crew chief; Ella Dorris and Sami Kumahata, wardrobe supervisors; Jordan Nelson, dresser; and Stefani Garcia, programmer/light board operator.
Rick Reeves, visiting instructor, is the scenic and lighting designer. Mayra Torres, resident costumer, is the costume designer.
