SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University music faculty professor, Dr. Timothy Bonenfant, will present a public clarinet recital at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
The concert will be in the EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. Bonenfant will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Martha Saywell of the Texas A&M University-San Antonio music faculty.
The musical program for the concert will include:
- "Serenade Espagnole" by Cecile Chaminade
- "Nocturne" and "Cortege" by Lili Boulanger
- "Romance" by Amy Beach
- "Raga" by Jennifer Jolley
- "Jhula Jhule" by Reena Esmail
- "Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, Op. 45" by Ruth Gipps
The first three selections in the program are originally violin pieces that Bonenfant has arranged for clarinet.
Bonenfant directs ASU's Single-Reeds Studio and performs with two fellow ASU music faculty as The Mesquite Trio. He has performed with the Nevada Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic and San Angelo Symphony Orchestra, among others. He has also accompanied such notable performers as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli, Randy Newman, Dudley Moore, Bobby Shew, the Village People and the Moody Blues.
