(INSIDE EDITION) -- For a generation of TV viewers, "Saved by the Bell" was the show that echoed their lives in middle school and high school from 1989 to 1992.
Now, 25 years later, the Saturday morning NBC show would later thrive in syndication on networks like MTV to provide nostalgia for longtime fans while inspiring a new generation of Bayside Tigers, who are keeping the stories of Zack, Kelly, Lisa, Slater, Jessie and Screech (among others) alive.
The show was originally titled "Good Morning, Miss Bliss" and focused on a group as middle school students when it aired on the Disney Channel in 1988. The show was produced by NBC and became the first program to be produced by a major network for cable TV.
After one season, it was renamed “Saved by the Bell” and NBC began airing the show until it's December 1992 finale. That episode was re-aired in prime time on May 22, 1993 as a lead-in to "Saved by the Bell: The College Years."
"The College Years" was one of two spin-offs of the original. The other, "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," ran for seven seasons on NBC and featured a new troupe of characters, as well as some returning favorites.
In 1994, the original cast of "Saved by the Bell" reunited for the TV movie, "Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas."
Now, 25 years after the original sitcom's final airdate, InsideEdition.com takes a look into where the cast is today.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar
Gosselaar portrayed the lead character, Zack Morris, who captured the attention of viewers with his quick-thinking, smooth-talking, and rebellious attitude on "Saved by the Bell" as well as “Good Morning, Miss Bliss." When "Saved by the Bell" ended, Gosselaar hung on with "Saved by the Bell: The College Years” which lasted for one season in prime time from 1993-1994.
Gosselaar, now 44, has starred in several TV shows like “NYPD Blue," "Franklin & Bash," and "Raising the Bar," with guest stints on “Family Guy," "Robot Chicken" and "CSI." He currently appears in the TV Land series "Nobodies."
In 2015, he revived Zack Morris for a skit on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" alongside Mario Lopez, Tiffany Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Dennis Haskins.
In 2012, he married ad exec Catriona McGinn. The couple has 2 children together. Gosselaar also has two children from a previous marriage.
Mario Lopez
Lopez, 44, portrayed the hunky heartthrob A.C. Slater, joining Gosselaar on “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” when the primary series ended. He has found success as the face of "Extra," where he's been since 2008. He has also hosted three seasons of "The X Factor," "America’s Best Next Dance Crew" and the 2007, 2009 and 2010 Miss America pageants. He has also appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.”
In 2008, he wrote a fitness book entitled, “Mario Lopez Knockout Fitness,” as well as The New York Times bestseller "Extra Lean." He has also written a children’s book, "Mario and Baby Gia." Lopez took the Broadway stage in 2008 starring in “A Chorus Line.”
He married Broadway dancer Courtney Mazza in 2012. They have two children together — Gia, 8, and Dominic, 5. Lopez also joined Gosselaar on “The Tonight Show” when he revived Slater for the popular skit.
Dustin Diamond
Diamond, 41, portrayed the geeky Samuel “Screech” Powers on the show as well as “Good Morning, Miss Bliss.” Like Lopez and Gosselaar, Diamond joined “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” when the primary series ended. He later revived his role of Screech for six seasons on the other spin-off, “Saved by the Bell: The New Class,” as an adviser to Principal Belding at Bayside High, the show ran from 1993 to 2000.
In 2006, Diamond stirred up controversy after he directed and released his own sex tape called “Screeched: Saved by the Smell. He later told Oprah that it wasn’t him in the tape but rather a look-alike.
He joined the reality TV circuit on shows like "Celebrity Fit Club," "Celebrity Big Brother,” and “Hulk Hogan’s Championship Wrestling.”
In 2009, he raised eyebrows again with his memoir “Behind the Bell,” where he told salacious and unflattering stories about his “Saved by the Bell” cast mates. He later admitted on the Oprah Winfrey Network that the book was ghost-written and many portions of it were fabricated.
In recent years, he found himself in trouble with the law.
In 2015, he was convicted of stabbing a man in a 2014 barroom brawl and served 60 days in a Wisconsin prison. He was released in 2016 on 15-months of probation, but was arrested after testing positive for using the painkiller oxycodone without a doctor’s prescription, a violation of the conditions of his release.
He spent two days in a Wisconsin county jail for violating his probation.
Tiffani-Amber Thiessen
Thiessen, 44, appeared on the show as the "girl-next-door" Kelly Kapowski. Thiessen joined Gosselaar, Lopez, and Diamond on "Saved by the Bell: The College Years." Once the show ended, she took a lead role on “Beverly Hills, 90210” for six seasons as Valerie Malone.
She has continued acting, appearing in films like “The Ladies Man,” “From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money,” and “Love Stinks.” She has regularly worked in television in series like “Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place,” “Fastlane,” “White Collar.,” She currently stars on "Alexa & Katie."
In 2005, she married actor Brady Smith. They have two kids – Harper, 8, and Holt, 3.
Since 2015, she has been hosting the Food Network show, "Dinner at Tiffani's" which featured an appearance by her "Saved by the Bell" co-star Elizabeth Berkley.
Lark Voorhies
Voorhies, 44, portrayed fashionista Lisa Turtle on both “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” and “Saved by the Bell.” When the show ended, she continued acting with appearances on "Martin,” “Days of Our Lives,” “In the House,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
She reprised her "Saved by the Bell" role in an episode of "The College Years” and once more on “The New Class." Her most recent role was in the 2012 film, “Closer to God: Jessica’s Journey.”
She is fairly active on social media and still makes appearances as a model and singer. Since 2010, she has self-published three books.
Elizabeth Berkley
Berkley, 45, starred as Jessie Spano on “Saved by the Bell.” Once the show ended, she shed her wholesome image with a lead role in the NC-17 cult classic, "Showgirls," in which she portrayed an embattled Las Vegas stripper.
Berkley also appeared in the critically acclaimed film “Any Given Sunday,” and continued acting in films like “The Curse of the Jade Scorpion,” “Africa,” and TV shows like “CSI: Miami,” “The L Word" and “New Girl.”
In 2003, she married artist Greg Lauren. The couple has one son together, a son named Sky, 6.
Dennis Haskins
Haskins, 67, played Principal Richard Belding on “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” “Saved by the Bell,” and later, “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.” Since hanging up Mr. Belding, Haskins has found continuous work in several made-for-TV-movies, and series like “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, “Robot Chicken,” and “Hot in Cleveland.”
He has a number of projects in development currently. In 2009, he released his first music album, “Karaoke with your Favorite Principal Dennis,” a collection of cover songs. He would also make special appearances as an opening act for rapper Action Bronson.
He revived Mr. Belding for a 2007 episode of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson."
Leah Remini
Remini, 47, wasn’t a full-time cast member on “Saved by the Bell,” but had a recurring role as Stacey Carosi in seven episodes. Her acting career continued with roles in movies like "Old School," but found success as she returned to TV in the hit CBS comedy, “The King of Queens" opposite Kevin James. She would later reunite with James in "Kevin Can Wait" before the show was canceled earlier this month.
Remini also hosts the award-winning documentary series, “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath.” She also penned the bestselling memoir, “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology,” in 2015, two years after leaving the church.
She married actor Angelo Pagan in 2003. They have a 14-year-old daughter.
Ed Alonzo
Alonzo, 49, played Max, the owner of Bayside High's after-school hangout, The Maxx, on "Saved by the Bell."
Alonzo, a magician by trade, continued acting in episodes of "Murphy Brown," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Modern Family."
He was slated to be a part of Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concerts in London, performing tricks on stage. However, the King of Pop died before any of the gigs could happen.
