ASU choirs present "United in Song" concert

The Angelo State University Concert Chorale and Chamber Ensemble will present their first public concert under a new director.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Angelo State University Concert Chorale and Chamber Ensemble will present a concert "United in Song." The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 37 E. Beauregard Ave.,  and is free to the public.

This is the first concert under the leadership of director Dr. Eric Posada. The choirs will perform a selection of songs with themes of unity, social justice and artistic beauty, including:

Concert chorale

  • "United in Song: An Anthem for Our Time" by Mari Esabel Valverde, with featured student soloists Zach Douglas of Coppell and Amanda Golka of Cedar Park
  • "Ballade to the Moon" by Daniel Elder

Chamber ensemble

  • "Kyrie De Angelis" from "Mass VIII", a 9th century Gregorian Chant
  • "Ave Maria" by Jacques Arcadelt

Concert chorale

  • "Soon We Will Be Done" arranged by Kyle Pederson, with featured student soloist John De Jesus of Abilene
  • "Gloriana, Op. 53: Choral Dances, No. 2 Concord" by Benjamin Britten
  • "Like a River in My Soul" arranged by Tim Osiek
  • "Sisi ni moja" (We are one) by Jacob Narverud, featuring Dr. Trent Shuey, ASU assistant director of bands, on djembe drum
