SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University alumni Oscar Casillas and Jerod White have joined the ASU Foundation board of trustees, according to a release from ASU. The ASU Foundation is a public, nonprofit organization established to offer financial assistance to ASU students.
Casillas, a 1980 ASU graduate, is president and CEO of BEPC Inc., an engineering and technical consulting firm based in San Angelo. Along with his wife, Camelia, he has been an active member of the ASU President's Circle and he serves on the industry advisory council for ASU's David L. Hirschfeld Department of Engineering. He has also been a guest speaker for ASU's Housley Principled Leadership Program and recently endowed a scholarship for students in ASU's mechanical engineering program.
"I am extremely proud to be a graduate of Angelo State University," Casillas said in the release, "And I am honored to serve on the board of this unique foundation that provides significant academic scholarships and other funding to help students advance their education at ASU. My professional experience and background will be a valuable asset for the board as we move forward in the advancement of the foundation goals."
White received both his bachelor's (1994) and master's (2001) degrees at Angelo State. He is the CEO of 700 Valve Supply, a global distributor of industrial valves based in Stafford, near Houston. He recently began lending his expertise and support to ASU's new Bachelor of Commercial Aviation degree program that enrolled its first students this fall.
"I am so honored to serve on the foundation board," White said in the release. "Because I am not just an alumnus, but a lifelong San Angelo resident, and I want to do everything I can to help ASU stay strong and a vital part of our city and the West Texas region."
"We are delighted to have Oscar and Jerod join us on the ASU Foundation board," Jamie Akin, ASU vice president for external relations, said in the release. "As highly successful alumni, they are the epitome of Angelo State University's mission. Their experiences with our engineering and aviation programs will also bring new perspectives and ideas to the board. We are so glad they have chosen to serve for the betterment of ASU."
