SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department issued a community alert Tuesday for guns stolen last week.
According to an SAPD Facebook post, there were a total of four guns stolen by criminals during vehicle burglaries.
The post also said stolen guns are sometimes traded for drugs, used in robberies or used in other violent crimes.
SAPD is reminding residents that gun safety is about how the weapon is handled, as well as how it is stored.
To prevent guns from ending up in the wrong hands, SAPD says to remove them from the vehicle or store them in a trunk or lock box.
