SAN ANGELO, TX —
This is an event made for people seeking to make a difference.
It's a chance for San Angelo, or anyone really to rally together and help raise funds for 170 different non-profit organizations not just in San Angelo but all across the Concho Valley.
"We have organizations in Sonora, Ozona, Brady, Eden," said Janet Karcher, vice president of development marketing for San Angelo Area Foundation.
San Angelo Gives last 24 hours and raises money for 170 different organizations spread across 17 surrounding counties
"San Angelo Gives has been such a blessing we have seen the community really pour in to these organizations that are tirelessly working in our community," said Karcher.
Karcher has been with the San Angelo Area Foundation since the launch of San Angelo Gives in 2015 and says for her it's more than just raising funds.
"Seeing it firsthand people walking in the door and calling asking how can I support my favorite charity today that is truly inspirational," said Karcher.
When you donate Karcher says you can rest assured your dollars are making a difference, at a local level.
"Whether you're giving $10 or you’re giving $100 or you’re giving $10,000 you get to be a part of a collective effort in improving the quality of life of our community," said Karcher.
And with the money raised organizations are able to hit new outreach goals and implement new programs, ultimately making San Angelo an even greater place to live.
"To provide the opportunity for anyone to be a philanthropist," said Karcher. “By donating whether it’s to your food bank, or to the animal shelter, or to your health and human services organization they're able to fulfill their mission in our community."
Karcher says every person who gives has a chance to pick their favorite charity to support by going to SanAngeloGives.org and making their contribution on May 1st, 2018.
When San Angelo Gives first launched in 2015 it had a goal of raising $500,000 for 100 organizations. That year it raised $787,000. This year Karcher says their ultimate goal is to raise $1.75 million.
