ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Education Foundation (AEF) announced the names of the 2022 AEF Scholarship recipients in a press release Tuesday.
In conjunction with the STAR Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Dealership, AEF will acknowledge scholarship winners at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the STAR Dealership Showroom, 5101 South 1st St. Presentation of scholarships will begin promptly at 5:35 p.m.
According to the press release, the success of AEF fundraisers as well as donations from several individual donors, just over $42,000, will be awarded in scholarships to students in AISD, in addition to another $7,500 previously awarded in March for a total of $49,850.
Students from Abilene High School, Cooper High School, and ATEMS High School students will receive scholarships. Scholarships awarded will be AEF, AHS & CHS Alumni, Royce Curtis Excellence in Education, Jerry Taylor Memorial, Citizens Bank of Abilene, Meta Alice Keith Bratten Foundation, AHS Employee Scholarship, Cougar Nation Scholarship, John McCabe Memorial, Rising Phoenix, Meta Alice Keith Bratten Foundation CTE Scholarship, the Phenomenal Woman Scholarship, CJ Jackson Memorial and SEDALCO/Fred Harlan Memorial.
If the AEF scholarship recipient decides to attend a local college or university, he or she also will also have the opportunity to double their scholarship award. Abilene Christian University, Hardin-Simmons University, McMurry University, and Cisco College have all generously committed to match the AEF scholarship amount, within certain guidelines, in the student’s financial aid package with the university or college funded financial aid.
