ABILENE, Texas — One man was killed and a second person was injured in a single-vehicle crash that took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday night in east Abilene.
The Abilene Police Department responded to the crash in the 800 block of East Highway 80 in Abilene.
According to an APD press release, a silver Chevy Camaro occupied by two people was traveling east on East Highway 80 at a high rate of speed when it veered off the roadway and crossed the median into the westbound lane. The vehicle hit a light pole, ejecting one of the occupants, 68-year-old Charles William Ferrell, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Justice of the Peace. The second occupant was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The APD believes speed and alcohol to be factors in crash. The investigation is ongoing.
