SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State University's Trumpet Ensembles will present their annual spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Dr.
Titled "Exultation," the concert will take place in the EFA Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. ASU's GOLD and BLUE trumpet ensembles will present a diverse and creative program that features the glorious sounds of the trumpet, along with works that highlight the lyrical side of the instrument.
The musical program will include:
- "Fantasia" for Seven Trumpets by Eric Ewazen - GOLD Ensemble
- Four German Worldly Songs and Dances by Melchior Franck - BLUE Ensemble
- "Non piu andrai" from "Le Nozze di Figaro" by W.A. Mozart - BLUE Ensemble
- "Arabian Dance" from "Peer Gynt" by Edvard Grieg - GOLD & BLUE Ensembles
- "Exhultation" by Richard Byrd - GOLD Ensemble
- "De Colores" arranged by David Marlatt - GOLD Ensemble
- "Centrifuge" by Jason Dovel - BLUE Ensemble
- "The Legend of Pandora" by Jason Dovel - GOLD & BLUE Ensembles
The ASU Trumpet Ensembles have also been selected from ensembles around the world to perform at the 46th annual International Trumpet Guild Conference in June in San Antonio. Two of the works featured during the "Exultation" concert will offer a sneak peek into the repertoire the ensembles will perform at the international conference, according to an ASU press release.
The ASU Trumpet Ensembles are directed by Dr. John Irish, professor of music.
