ABILENE, Texas — According to the Abilene Police Department, a suspect has been identified in an attempted bank robbery taking place nearly a year ago.

APD says with the help of other law enforcement agencies they were able to identify 70-year-old James Earl Green as the involved suspect.

"Through an extensive investigation that spanned several months and countless manhours, and with the aid of several law enforcement agencies, the suspect’s vehicle, and ultimately the suspect himself, was identified as a 70-year-old male from El Paso, TX. He is currently in custody on unrelated charges. A complaint has been filed federally against the suspect in connection with the robbery of the First State Bank south Treadaway Abilene location. A Federal warrant was issued for the robbery. "

The incident happened during the early hours of September 24, 2019. APD detectives believe Green might be linked to two other robberies in the area.

One on July 12, 2016, at the First Bank Texas located at 1849 S. First, and one on April 22, 2015, at the First Bank Texas in Clyde, located at 525 S. Access Rd.
