Operation Brown Bag delivers lunch to students stuck on Spring Break

Volunteers pack and deliver 27 lunch sacks for those students without access to meals

ABILENE, Texas — Operation Brown Bag is an initiative to serve those in need in Tye for the last two years.

On a regular basis, OBB serves lunches during summer months, Spring Break and Fridays.

The decision for school districts to extend Spring Break leaves some students without a meal.

"For them to travel to Merkel to get food, just isn't a possibility," said Deb Strong, President of OBB.

Strong says they are currently delivering sack lunches to 27 students, which include: a sandwich, drink, chips, cookie and a pudding.

"Its a very disadvantaged community and the children deserve to be taken care of," said Strong.

According to Strong, the community supports Operation Brown Bag tenfold, and they are happy to be able to provide this help because of it.
