ABILENE, Texas — The Story Book capital has decided they be holding their annual Children’s Art and Literacy Festival this year virtually.
According to Sidney Levesque, marketing director of Abilene’s Cultural Affairs Council the decision was made in April to postpone the festival due to the pandemic.
"I just couldn’t let this weekend go by without acknowledging the festival its been an Abilene tradition since 2012 when they did the first Seuss festival," said Levesque.
The CALF festival will still be holding festivities virtually Thursday, June, 11 through Saturday, June 13, 12:30 pm.
"Virtual calf is just a reminder that we want children to be reading and creating art all summer long... And we hope they continue that here in the storybook capital of America" said Levesque.
According to Levesque, they plan the have Loren Long art exhibition in June 2021, but there are still ways to celebrate art and reading this weekend. You can visit their website for a full schedule of activities.
