ABILENE, Texas — According to a newsletter sent out to parents of the Wylie Independent School District, the first day of school will be August 19.
Joey Light, Superintendent for the district says families will be able to choose whether their students will attend classes in person or continue their online learning education.
"We know because of the situation people need to be able to have some options depending on the child's health situation or parents or grandparents so really that's what the alternate opportunity to have online learning is for," says Light.
In the newsletter, the district went on to say that online education will be conducted differently than in the spring. Attendance and grades will be taken and participation will be required.
