A West Texas fire department is asking the community for help

Going on four days straight fighting fires, the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department is asking the community for donations to help fix and replace equipment.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Four days to the normal person just means the week is almost over, and it’s time to prepare for the following week.

Four days to the Robert Lee Volunteer Fire Department means a nonstop battle with fires as its members continue to blaze through the West Texas terrain.

The RLVFD has been helping contain the McDaniel Fire, which now sits at 4,216 acres and 90% contained, since the weekend. Each fire the department works to contain starts to take toll on the equipment they rely on every day. The same equipment they use to protect themselves, but also helps protect the community.

Now, the community has a chance to help the fire department, and it is just a simple donation. The fire department reached out the community via a Facebook that reads, "These fires have put a major toll on our equipment."

The post shows where the fire department needs the most help.

"What we need now are tires for our trucks. Nozzles need to be replaced as they are worn out," the post said.

The department is looking for help to fix all the mechanical issues with the fire trucks they have.

"We currently have issues with possibly the rear end on our tanker and the supply pipe to our pump on a brush truck. We have 3 other trucks that are out of service due to mechanical issues."

If anyone is interested in making donations, they can be sent to the Robert Lee Fire Department, P.O. Box 331 Robert Lee, Texas 76945.
