SAN ANGELO, Texas — The City of San Angelo announced Friday it issued a notice to proceed with construction on its North Chadbourne Street improvement project.
According to a COSA press release, limited construction will begin approximately Sept. 5 and will increase in the coming months. Construction will begin with replacing water and sewer utility lines followed by roadway improvements.
The release also said temporary traffic control signage will be in place to direct motorists in work zones and will vary at time depending on the construction activities. Drivers are reminded to carefully in the construction areas.
Underground utility work zones will initially be one to three blocks long and will then move northward as work progresses.
Rehabilitation of buried utility lines and replacing street asphalt surface from 7th (U.S. 67 N frontage road) to 43rd streets will be included in the project.
Construction will begin at U.S 67 N, then proceed north and include the intersections at U.S. 67, 14th, 19th and 29th streets. The work will be done sequentially and will not affect more than one intersection at at time.
Work at intersections is anticipated to be finished within two to three weeks.
The underground utility construction is estimated to completed in the fall of 2021 and road improvements should begin late summer 2021.
The City will update residents on which areas of Chadbourne Street are actively under construction, as well as the progress being made.
