SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Concho Valley Council of Governments (CVCOG) announced it is the new sponsor organization for the AmeriCorps Vista Program.
According to a CVCOG press release, the goal is to create resilient communities by placing VISTA members with non-profit and social service agencies to implement projects to help alleviate poverty, empower communities, build capacity and create sustainable solutions throughout the 13 county region.
Projects implemented may include fundraising, grant writing, research data collection or analysis, as well as volunteer recruitment.
The term for members serving in the AmeriCorps VISTA program is one year. Members are eligible for incentives such as monthly stipends, living allowances, training, health coverage among other incentives.
The CVCOG is looking to fill the following opportunities with interested applicants:
- VISTA Leader - Concho Valley Community Enrichment Initiative at CVCOG
- Mental Health/School Safety Initiative Data Collection Specialist at Education Service Center
- Region 15
- Sustainability Coordinator at West Texas Counseling and Guidance
- Veterans Outreach Coordinator at West Texas Counseling and Guidance
- Family/Community Program Analyst at Head Start/Early Head Start.
The Concho Valley Council of Governments is a volunteer organization of local governments foster a cooperative effort in resolving problems, policies, and plans that are common and regional, the release said.
