Fort Concho Speaker Series returns in April, features lunchtime lectures

The lectures will be from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning April 7.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Fort Concho National Historic Landmark Speaker Series is returning from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday in April at Fort Concho Stables, 210 Henry O Flipper St. 

According to a City of San Angelo release, admission is free and attendees can bring their own lunches.

Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the release.

Masks and social distancing will be required.

The speakers and topics for 2021 include:

  • Wednesday, April 7 - “Fort Chadbourne – Its History and Connection” by Garland Richards, Fort Chadbourne Foundation president
  • Wednesday, April 14 - “Bass Reeves – 1st Black US Marshal” by Conrad McClure, local historian
  • Wednesday, April 21 - “The Regular Army O!: Highlights from the Douglas McChristian Collection, Part 2” by Cory Robinson, Fort Concho curator of history
  •  Wednesday, April 28 - ' “Whenever Everything Else Fails, I Have A System Which Never Does” – Tom Horn ’ Carl Brockmann, local historian.
