Multiple agencies extinguish grass fire in Grape Creek Friday

Three volunteer fire departments and the Texas US and Forest services put out a grass fire Friday afternoon.

GRAPE CREEK, Texas — The Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 2:40 p.m. Friday to the 6400 block of Grape Creek Road for reports of an unknown fire.

According to a Grape Creek VFD Facebook post, initial units found a grass fire that covered approximately 12 acres and was moving very rapidly across five separate residential properties.

One unoccupied mobile home and one vehicle were damaged by the fire.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The area received significant rain Thursday evening, however extreme fire conditions exist.

The Grape Creek VFD was assisted by the Quail Valley and Carlsbad volunteer fire departments as well as the Texas & US Forest services.

The public is asked to report any illegal, unsafe or unattended burning to local law enforcement.
