SAN ANGELO, Texas — The West Texas heat did not stop riders from participating in the 2020 MS150 Midland Bike Ride. The 72-mile ride began at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Texas Department of Transportation, 4502 Knickerbocker Road.

The route included several locations for riders wanting a shorter ride, and provided rest areas, as well as support throughout the ride. Some rode 20 miles, some rode 40 and others completed a 75-mile trek in support of those affected by multiple sclerosis.

Brian Backlund was a participant in Saturday’s ride. He said that although he is not officially part of the team, he decided to contribute and join them in the ride.

He said he rides for the those who can’t and in support of those affected by the disease, like his riding buddy.

Buckland rode a total of 47 miles and said he prepared by riding almost every day. This is his second time participating in the MS bike ride but hopes to do it again next year.
