SAN ANGELO, Texas — Janet Ridgeway and Anastasiia Delebis put together a humanitarian drive in the Keller Williams Realty San Angelo parking lot to make an effort to aid those affected by the tragedy occurring in Ukraine.

Some of the many items they were open to receiving include medical supplies like burn aids, bandages and splints, and tactical supplies like thermal clothing and combat boots.

Delebis is originally from Ukraine and felt the need to help her community the best she could.

“Our goal is to load the entire truck. If we need another truck to load more we will do that. No matter what it takes, we want to send as much as we can and we’re thankful for all of the help and donations,” Delebis explained.

Angelo State students and community members joined in to help organize donated items and help get the items on the truck for shipping.

Veterans, first responders and teachers are some of the many people who drove through to donate what they could to help.

“I just believe that as fellow human beings, we all have a duty to serve humanity and this is just one small way to show that we care,” local nurse Michelle Chinn said.

The medical and tactical supplies collected from the humanitarian drive will be taken to the nonprofit organization, Ukrainian San Antonio, so the supplies can make their way to Ukraine.

If you’re interested in donating, Delebis says she’s looking to hold another drive in a few weeks.
