923 pounds of methamphetamine seized from tractor trailer at the Texas-Mexico border

A CBP officer referred to a 2021 Volvo tractor and trailer that was transferring a commercial shipment of celery, broccoli and cauliflower for secondary inspection.

LAREDO, Texas — On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB), Office of Feld Operation officers seized methamphetamine that totaled more than $8.4 million in street value from a tractor at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo.

A CBP officer referred to a 2021 Volvo tractor and trailer that was suspiciously transferring a commercial shipment of celery, broccoli and cauliflower for secondary inspection.

After a canine alerted to the tractor and a "non-intrusive inspection system examination," CBP officers said they discovered 923 pounds of meth within the tractor and trailer.

The amount of meth that was found reportedly had a street value of $8,493,968.

“Optimal targeting efforts were keen in foiling this drug smuggling attempt,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “CBP personnel are persistent in protecting our Nation against dangerous and prohibited narcotics that pose a threat to our communities.”

CBP seized the narcotics and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are leading the investigation.
