ABILENE, Texas — A 31-year-old Abilene man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child, according to a release from the Abilene Police Department.
APD said Slade Dean King was arrested Friday, April 15 and charged with second-degree felony sexual assault of a child after a teenage boy made an outcry to police.
The teenager and King were not previously known to each other. The APD said King contacted the boy using a popular social media app and posed as a teenage girl to meet up with him at a south Abilene home where the assault took place.
King was booked into the Taylor County Jail and has since been released on bond.
The Abilene Police Department warned parents and teens who use social media applications to be cautious when interacting with anyone they do not directly know. Social media apps make it easy for predators with malicious intentions to pose as someone else.
