Abilene PD investigating early morning murder on city's north side

Police found a 42-year-old man with multiple stab wounds on Ash Street Wednesday morning. He died at a local hospital.

ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department's Major Investigations Bureau is investigating an early morning homicide in north Abilene.

According to an APD press release, dispatch received a call about an injured subject/stabbing at approximately 2:39 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, at a facility in the 1200 block of Ash Street.

Officers arrived and found a 42-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Police secured the scene and the victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The victim was identified by the APD as Matthew Charles Fouse with a listed address in Lubbock. Next of kin notification has been made.

Officers arrested Geovanta Martinez, 18, of New Mexico, in the 1300 block of Mesquite moments after the stabbing.

Martinez was charged with first-degree murder and is in the Taylor County Jail. This investigation is ongoing.
