Abilene Police investigate shooting on city's north side

The APD said a man is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a bullet in an altercation with another man. Police say both men fired weapons in the incident

ABILENE, Texas — An Abilene man is in the hospital recovering from a gunshot wound after an altercation Friday at a north Abilene home, the Abilene Police Department said in a press release Monday.

According to the release, at approximately 11:38 p.m. Friday, police were called to a large house party in the 2100 block of Lincoln Drive in north Abilene.

Initial calls said a shooting had happened at the location. Officers learned a man had been shot outside the home and taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.

A preliminary investigation showed a group of people arrived at the party and an altercation happened between two men. Police said at some point, shots were fired by both men and resulted in one of them being struck.

Major Investigations Bureau detectives are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.

The injured man remains in the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
