BRADY, Texas — One Brady resident is dead and one has been arrested for murder after a disturbance Sunday morning in the city.
According to a press release from the Brady Police Department, early Sunday morning, Brady EMS and BPD officers were dispatched to South Bridge Street in reference to a disturbance in progress.
They found Douglas Wayne Morton, 51, of Brady, near his room with several stab wounds to his upper torso. Brady EMS took Morton to the Heart of Texas Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
After an initial investigation, Eric Daniel Flores, 43, was arrested at the scene. He was booked into the McCulloch County Jail, pending arraignment by a magistrate for the charge of murder.
The release from BPD said this is still considered an “open” investigation and the department will be looking for and pursuing any other investigative leads that develop.
McCulloch County Judge Frank Trull ordered an autopsy, which is scheduled to take place later Monday in Austin.
