SAN ANGELO, Texas — A citizen who witnessed a robbery at a local convenience store was able to apprehend one of the suspects until police arrived at the scene.
According to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department, just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the Stripes convenience store, 1606 La Follette St., for the report of a robbery in progress.
When units arrived, they learned from a store employee that a witness inside the store apprehended one of the robbers, later identified as Jon Marc Guerra, 19.
The preliminary field investigation revealed a 16-year-old female suspect was in the process of committing a beer theft, and when the witness attempted to apprehend her, Guerra and another male suspect jumped out of a white passenger car and began assaulting him.
The Good Samaritan, who sustained injuries during the assault, was able to detain Guerra and return him to the store until police arrived.
The 16-year-old female suspect returned to the store on her own accord; however, the second male suspect fled the area and his identity and whereabouts are not known.
Both Guerra and the juvenile female suspect were charged with robbery. Guerra was transported to the Tom Green County Jail. His bond was set at $35,000.
The female was transported to the Tom Green County Juvenile Justice Center.
