Coleman County man charged in two Abilene convenience store robberies

ABILENE, Texas — (Correction: A previous version of this story identified the suspect as a Snyder man. The Abilene Police Department has since corrected that to reflect the suspect is a Coleman County residence.)

The Abilene Police Department Major Investigations Bureau said it has identified a 22-year-old Coleman County man for two convenience store robberies in early February.

An APD press release said Trenton Paul Thompson of Coleman County is accused of robbing two convenience stores.

Just before midnight on Feb. 9, Abilene Police said a man dressed in camouflage pants and a red hoodie went into a convenience store in the 2700 block of North 1st Street, pointed a weapon at the clerk, demanded money and ran from the store.

Just after midnight on Feb. 10, a man entered a convenience store in the 2700 block of Ambler Avenue, pointed a weapon at the clerk, demanded money, then fled from the store.

With the help of social media and other law enforcement agencies, Thompson was identified as the possible suspect in the Abilene robberies, and other incidents in the Coleman County area.

He was arrested by Coleman County police on several charges and is being held there.

Abilene Police have filed two charges of aggravated robbery against Thompson.
