San Antonio man accused of pouring scalding hot water on disabled roommate and then setting her on fire

According to an arrest warrant, Kamron Kearney poured rubbing alcohol on the victim twice, and then set her on fire.

SAN ANTONIO — A man is facing charges after police said he brutally assaulted a disabled woman.

Kamron Kearney, 26, is accused of pouring “scalding hot water” on his roommate and then later setting her on fire.

The victim is a 36-year-old woman who is “autistic and receives monthly disability payments,” according to an arrest affidavit. We are not naming the victim in this story who police said lived with Kearney for a year.

San Antonio Police officers responded to the home off the 200 block of Victor St on October 27 for reports of a woman with severe burns.

The incident happened two days before, according to police documents, when a caretaker was bathing the victim and Kearney became angry because the victim reportedly urinated on herself.

Kearney then poured “scalding hot water” on the victim while she was still in the shower, causing severe burns, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police documents report the abuse continued when Kearney forced the woman to stand in a corner until “her legs were swollen.”

Investigators said Kearney then poured rubbing alcohol on the victim and set her on fire, burning her arms.

The fire was somehow put out, and the victim fell to the floor, that's when Kearney poured more alcohol on the woman’s legs and again set her on fire causing additional severe burns.

Kearney is facing two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Injury to Disabled Person, Serious Bodily Injury.

Kearney’s total bond for the charges is set at $250,000 and he is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail.
