COLORADO CITY, Texas — All Colorado Independent School District campuses were placed on lockdown Friday after the Colorado City Police Department received a call about an active attack event.
A Texas Department of Public Safety news release said area law enforcement was notified of the report and all agencies responded. The agencies were Colorado City Police Department, Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office, Mitchell County EMS, DPS, Texas Parks and Wildlife, and the Snyder Police Department.
The lockdown was lifted when it was determined to be a false report. All students were accounted for, and all campuses were determined safe to return to normal activity.
DPS Criminal Investigation Division special agents are working with the CPD to investigate this crime.
It has been discovered that several area cities also received “false reports” of active attacks Friday in their schools.
