HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man was shot, then ran in front of an elementary school in north Harris County, where he collapsed, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman. Two people are in custody in the shooting.
It happened Friday afternoon outside Hoyland Elementary School, which is off Kuykendahl Road just west of the North Freeway. The shooting victim was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.
No one at the school was hurt, according to Herman, and was secured.
“One of our first concerns when we started and officers got to the location was to ensure the safety of the school,” said J. Garza with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office. “The campus was our primary focus to make sure there was nothing inside the school or outside the school that would case any harm or any danger to anybody.”
Investigators said two people are in custody. At this point, police haven't said a motive or if the people knew each other.
Police said one suspect ran into a nearby apartment complex, which led to a heavy police presence in the area.
