Runnels Co. man hospitalized after wife shoots him during family argument

RUNNELS COUNTY, Texas — A Runnels County man was transported by ambulance to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo Sunday evening after he was shot by his wife.

According to a release on the Runnels County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, at approximately 7:24 p.m. Sunday, Runnels County dispatch received a 9-1-1 call, reporting a shooting at 701 St. John’s Street in Miles.

Runnels County deputies and Ballinger Police Department officers arrived to find James Quezada with a single gunshot wound to his right chest/shoulder area.

Upon investigation, officers determined during a family argument Bonita Quezada, the victim's wife, obtained a handgun and shot the victim.

Bonita Quezada was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and transported to the Runnels County Jail.

James Quezada was transported to Shannon Medical Center by Ballinger EMS. According to the release, he is currently in stable condition.

Bonita Quezada’s bond was set at $2500.
