San Angelo man arrested after crashing into occupied SAPD vehicle

The officer inside the vehicle was not injured and the patrol vehicle sustained minor damage.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A San Angelo man was arrested for driving while intoxicated after he crashed into a marked police vehicle parked and occupied by a patrolman near 19th and Magdalen streets early Christmas morning.

According to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department, the incident occurred as officers were investigating an unrelated incident.

The suspect, Rogelio Gaspar, 42, was arrested within a few block of the crash. The patrol vehicle sustained minor damage and the officer was not injured, the release said. 

Gaspar was booked into the Tom Green County Jail and later released after posting bond.
