SAN ANGELO, Texas — A San Angelo man who was wanted by law enforcement was arrested after a brief foot chase Wednesday evening.
According to a press release from the San Angelo Police Department, at approximately 7:04 p.m. May 4, SAPD Gang Unit officers saw a wanted subject, Donavan Guzman, 31, in the parking lot of a local motel in the 1900 block of Sherwood Way.
Officers tried to make contact with Guzman, at which point he ran from them. The officers were able to quickly catch Guzman after the brief pursuit and arrest him after receiving some resistance from him.
While trying to arrest Guzman, one of the officers saw a woman, Willie Lacy, 48, try to pull officers off Guzman while they were on the ground. After Guzman was secured, Lacy was arrested for interference with public duties and taken to the Tom Green County Jail.
Guzman was medically cleared at Shannon Medical Center for injuries he received during the arrest and then taken to the Tom Green County Jail. He was charged with his felony county warrant; evading arrest/detention; resisting arrest; and two counts of possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 1>=1G<4G.
No officers were reported injured during this incident.
