SAN ANGELO, Texas — San Angelo Police Department Dispatch was notified at approximately 9:05 p.m., Saturday, April 3 at the 800 block of Childress Street for a report of an unknown problem.
According to an SAPD press release, officers arrived at the scene at approximately 9:10 p.m. and found a shooting victim, as well as two other people.
The shooting victim was identified as Sterling McCain, 24. The two people were identified as Ian Smith and Myan McCain.
Medical personnel confirmed Sterling McCain was dead at the scene.
The SAPD Criminal Investigation Division detectives took over the investigation.
Information obtained at the scene by SAPD and interviews with the named parties indicated a possible domestic disturbance, which led to Ian Smith shooting Sterling McCain, according to the release.
Following the initial investigation, Ian Smith was charged with murder and booked into the Tom Green County Jail.
