SAN ANGELO, Texas — San Angelo Police Department Crimes Against Children detectives have charged three individuals with infant abuse after officers responded to an unconscious infant report early Sunday in the 2200 block of Webster Street.

According to a press release from the SAPD, when officers arrived, they found the unresponsive two-month-old girl and administered life-saving measures while transporting her to Shannon Medical Center for treatment.

Hospital officials assessed the infant and told officers they observed injection sites on the infant’s extremities and head; and the infant’s urine tested positive for heroin. Because of the severity of the baby’s condition, she was transported to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, where she remains on life support.

SAPD Crimes Against Children Unit detectives responded and learned the baby’s mother, Destiney Harbour, 21, had given birth to the infant at the residence in late August and the baby had not received formal medical care since her birth.

Investigators also discovered that Harbour’s mother, Christin Bradley, 37, and Bradley’s boyfriend, Dustin Smock, 34, had helped with the infant’s care inside the home.

While executing a search warrant at the Webster home, investigators found drug paraphernalia, as well as a small quantity of suspected heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and pills.

Harbour, Bradley and Smock have been charged with first-degree felony injury to a child - serious bodily injury. Their bonds were set at $100,000 and $50,000, respectively, according to the release.

This is an ongoing investigation and additional charges may be forthcoming.
