SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened late Monday evening in the 2600 block of Lakeside Avenue.
According to a release from the SAPD, officers were called to the location just before 9 p.m. Monday for the report of a shooting victim.
Officers found a man lying in the roadway, with an apparent gunshot wound. The man was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation shows the man was shot by an unidentified man who had been standing by a nearby vehicle.
Police said just prior to the shooting, the victim approached the suspect, unprovoked and confronted him at knifepoint.
