San Angelo police investigating death of infant

According to a release from the SAPD, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on Ben Ficklin for an unconscious, unresponsive baby.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Investigators with the San Angelo Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit are conducting a death investigation of an 8-month-old San Angelo girl. 

A press release from the SAPD said just before 12:30 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to the Bella Vista Apartments in the 4100 block of Ben Ficklin Drive for the report of an unconscious, unresponsive baby.  

Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire also responded and requested the child’s body be sent to the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy - standard for unknown causes of death in children younger than 10 years of age.

The SAPD said this is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
